As we know some people learn by seeing how something is done and others learn by reading it.  Me I am a visual learner.  I love to take classes to learn a new skill instead of reading about it in a pattern.  Besides, it's way more fun to be with other people while you learn. Someone always asks that question that you want to ask but do not really want to ask it. I love those people!

Well, I felt that way about the Tula Pink Rotary Cutter. I started using it and fell in love with it. The weight on it is so nice to cut with, and it is very easy to hold. But the first time I went to change the blade, I looked at it and then had to go and find the directions. Fortunately, I kept them in the box, and I found the box that I put in a safe place so that I would know right where it was (good thing I remembered, but I do not always).

So after reading the directions, I figured it out. So I decided to do a video for all the visual learners. One thing that is very important is how to hold the cutter and hold the bolt in tight, so the plastic cover goes on smoothly.  Some have experienced problems with the plastic piece breaking, and then the rotary cutter will not stay together. I have changed the blade over 30 times and use the rotary cutter every day at the store and have not had a problem for over a year.  In fact, we use two.

I love my cutter, so I want to make sure it lasts.

Happy Quilting,
Margo

I struggle and struggle to open up the plastic back area to change the blade. It won’t slide. Do you have the blade open or shut when trying to change the blade? I have tried it and tried it. where exactly do you press on the OPEN at the edge or down near the close area. You explanation is way too fast. Go slower and show it step by step. thanks

Thanks for your video, wow, you made it so easy. Because I can’t find the instructions anywhere. I’m trying to get rid of all the paperwork the comes in this house that isn’t important but instructions for my Tula stuff is definitely IMPORTANT as I grab this one every time! I had bought a 10 pack of blades, and they were still not being used because these blades last forever!!! This is such a great cutter, and yes I am worried about cutting myself because I have cut myself with kitchen knives! I’m that person…. Thank you for the heads up on how not to break that plastic piece only because I am so fond of this one. I just love her and she fits so well in your hand. And cuts perfectly.

Oh thank you for your video. I found the package of blades…then I couldn’t open them… then I needed to find a box cutter to get into the blades, then finally I look on the back and jeez I can’t even unscrew this thing. Lol I’m not a wimp but everything is so hard anymore. But we gotta have our gadgets. When I was a young sewer, you had a sewing machine and scissors and pins, now I’ve got so many of everything in every color and I need a video to use it? Thank goodness for you! I wonder what sewing will bring in 10 years? I’m definitely gonna need a second home.

Thanks so much for your video tutorial on replacing the blade on my Tula Pink rotary cutter. It’s my first time and I was quite anxious about slicing my thumb off! lol. I am happy to report that I was successful thanks to you!
Be safe!
