Riverside Knoll Sew A Long Installment #5

4 down and now 2 to go!  We are on the homestretch!

This month I am going to give you a very helpful tip.  We are going to cut out all of Installment #5 and some of Installment #6.

The cutting instructions require a lot of shuffling between the 25 color fabrics.  We can eliminate a step by adjusting some cutting instructions.

From all the 25 color fabrics - cut 1 rectangle 6 1/2" X 7 1/2"

From all the 25 color fabrics -  Cut 1 - 1 1/2" X 7 1/2"

Sew aside for  Installment #6

How about a Sneak Peak?  I'm showing off my borders Here!

Sub-cut this rectangle into 5 - 1 1/2" X 6 1/2" rectangles.  This will give you enough rail fence bars for installment #5. The corner blocks of installment #6  are the longer rails.  Just set them  aside for next month!

These blocks really "buttons up" this quilt!  When I got the 4 borders done, I was excited!  Really excited because I can see the end result and I LIKE it!

Click here for a video on how to do an Hourglass block or 1/4 square triangles!  Mix up your hourglass blocks and make them scrappy.  Use a bit of starch on the blocks for a crisp end result.  Trim them accurately with the diagonal seam starting and ending in the corner of the block. Watch your 1/4" seam allowance.  Follow the pressing instructions.

I shot a video on the 3 P's of Pinning these blocks.  Click here to see it!

This has been a fun project.  I have enjoyed leading this group.  I hope you have enjoyed our journey to finish this quilt.  Also, I hope you have learned a thing or 2 along the way!   I am rushing ahead to have this quilt not only done but quilted and bound for a grand reveal!

Take you time and watch your 1/4" seam allowance.  Square up your hourglass (1/4 square triangle) blocks accurately.  Mix up your rail fence blocks and most of all ENJOY THE PROCESS!
