Start the Year with Learning to Quilt!

I know at the beginning of the year I always look around the quilting room and pick out things I want to learn or finish.  Maybe it's a new technique or UFO's we all have a few of those :)  I look at that pile of finished tops and say this is the year I'm going to get some of those completely finished.  So this year I have teamed up with Ranae Merrill because she had a Free Motion Mastery in a Month program.  She has just started a sew along with step by step instructions of how to master quilting. She takes you from tracing to drawing and them to a 12 inch block which is not that much to quilt.  But it helps you built your skill to get that quilt done.  This is for domestic machine and long arm machine quilts.

RaNae spends time on the basic shapes so that you learn that skill before you progress to the more complicated quilting patterns of combining shapes.   If you have been putting off learning to quilt this program and sew long might just be the motivation you need to get you off and quilting.

The Free-Motion Mastery in a Month learning system draws on my 25 years experience as a piano teacher to bring you the simplest, most effective method ever for learning or improving free-motion quilting skills.

The FMM30 system combines three teaching elements: Tracing, Drawing and Quilting. Tracing is done with the Master Trainer and Tracing Sheets -- away from the sewing machine.

The Master Trainer also functions as a machine quilting ruler. FMM30 also teaches you the basics of ruler work!

We have worked with RaNae to make kits of fabric that will work great for her free motions mastery class.  You can see our selection here Quilt Kits

Free-Motion Mastery in a Month breaks down the process of learning free-motion quilting into individual skills. You learn each skill separately, then put them together for quilting success. There are 31 guided daily lessons. Each lesson contains three types of exercises: Tracing, Drawing and Quilting. Each exercise plays a different and important role in mastering free-motion quilting.

Because you're practicing the right things, the right way, in the right order, you really can learn to do free-motion quilting in as little as a month.
