DIY 3/16″ Basket with Handles Kit

It’s time now to add HANDLES to your projects! This DIY coiled rope basket kit from The Mountain Thread Company makes one basket with handles. It could be your new bread basket, key corral, or the loveliest craft room storage. Use the introduction of the handle technique as a springboard for future projects with portability in mind.

The basket measures approximately 8-9” across the top (actual finished dimensions may vary).

This beginner level kit is ideal for the crafty sewist who is ready to build and develop new sewing machine skills related to coiled rope basketry.

Each kit contains the following:

• Step-by-step instructions for making round or oval baskets
• 15 yards of 100% cotton rope (our special Mountain Thread Co. braid made right here in North Carolina)
• 1 heavy duty sewing machine needle

In addition to the materials included in the kit, makers will need a sewing machine**, scissors, and all purpose thread in a matching color.

This project is suitable for sewists who are confident in steps like changing the machine needle, adjusting stitch length and width, and pivoting (confident beginner or intermediate level).
